if you knew me in 7th grade I’m sorry
So right now I’m in contact with the Vice President of Global Health and Safety at Univar -a 10 billion dollar chemical company- about a possible job
In order to prepare this, I have a mock interview set up with this lady who places “medtemps and labtemps” in jobs around the greater Seattle area, for practice, ya know
My guardian angel who is arranging all these contacts is a mother of a good friend I met in school. She decided she was gonna help a recent graduate get a job through her network
(500 connections on LinkedIn)
She advised I contact a temp agency to get a real mock interview; so who do I happen to land an interview with? I have an interview in the greater Seattle area on Friday.
Not to mention I have in interview for a pharmacy assistant position here where I am now.
Fuck yeah real life here I come! And to whoever read this whole thing, work hard, and don’t give up on yourself because you can do it! :)
When your classmates wrinkled their noses at the scent of your lunch still lingering on your clothes,
Even though their ancestors had conquered half the world in search of the spices you ate.
How they jeered at your mother’s bindi, making crude jokes about how ridiculous it looked on her,
And after ten years, how they all wore the exact same ornament on their own foreheads to keep up with the current trends.
When they repeatedly stumbled over the sharp letters which formed your name, forcing you to repeat yourself several times before giving up;
Only to have those very letters tattooed on their own flesh, in a language they do not comprehend.
Your culture belongs to you,
Not to them.
